School Philosophy
Ballet
Westmoreland Academy is a school dedicated to the provision
of superior dance training to students of all levels
pre-ballet through professional. The school maintains a permanent
distinguished and professional faculty committed to meticulous
dance education of the student body. Every student is valued
and respected for his or her unique ability. We pride ourselves
on the warm and caring atmosphere of Ballet Westmoreland.

Teaching
Method
Ballet Westmoreland Academy interprets the 8
year Vaganova (Russian) Syllabus in such a way that it
can be tailored to the individual student.
Dress Code
Pink tights, soft ballet slippers and school leotard. Pointe
shoes for advanced female students. Boys - tights, dance belt,
white T-shirt and black or white shoes. All female students
are to wear a high bun held securely in place with an elastic
band and net. Hair spray may be necessary. Untidy hair renders
proper execution of dance exercise impossible.
Attendance
Please! Arrive on time! A ballet class adheres to a safety
conscious format. Late admission to a class can lead to injury
since the student is not sufficiently warmed up. It also is
a distraction to all involved in the class. Make every effort
not to miss class. Much material is introduced in each class.
It is not fair to the other students to have the teacher take
time away from their class to help someone catch up on the
material they missed. Some absences are unavoidable, but do
try to keep them to an absolute minimum.
There are no tuition refunds. Make up classes
are permitted any time during the course. No credit is made
toward tuition for classes missed.
